DESCRIPTION: EPW - L.C. Grandjean, Locle, tandem-winding two-train split-seconds chronograph with quarter-second jump, 57mm, heavy 18K gold OF original case with small Jurgensen-style lips, signed gold cuvette, glazed observation cover over mvt, white enamel DS dial, fancy gilt Louis XV style hands, SW-button-set, fully capped lever escapement, likely 31-33J, fausses-cĂ´tes pattern nickel damascene, s#4822 within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 99.5 dwt (154.8 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, good split-seconds function aside from slight misalignment of sweep-seconds hands, good quarter jump function, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with toning and with ultra-fine scratch striations from a past wiping, few scattered micro-fine scratches; dial with small bits of fill material evident at seating of center section and quarter-second jump registers indicating that they have been re-secured, otherwise nearly flawless with few tiny surface nicks and mild fine to micro-fine scratches; excellent hands, upper sweep-seconds hand with fine scratch striations to its hub and to the spade of its tail; case shows very little wear, small dent to band near 6, scattered lesser dings elsewhere to band, some dings to bezel with the two most prominent being at 7:30, good overall engine turning detail with mild reduction through rear shoulder; tight bow, crown shows light wear with small ridge break; good glass crystals.
